As GALLIM approaches its 20th anniversary season in 2027, the company returns to The Joyce Theater with a repertory program that honors its past while looking boldly toward its future. Featuring new creations by founder and artistic director Andrea Miller alongside GALLIM’s first-ever commissioned work by another choreographer, former company member Sean Howe, the evening reflects the company’s enduring commitment to innovation, collaboration, and artistic evolution.
The program includes state and YEAR, two acclaimed works by Andrea Miller originally commissioned through a creative partnership with A.I.M by Kyle Abraham. Together, these works embody the fearless experimentation and restless imagination that have defined GALLIM for nearly two decades.
Audiences will experience the extraordinary physicality and virtuosity of the GALLIM dancers in a world where movement, music, and visual design converge to create performances that are visceral, immersive, and unforgettable.

ANDREA MILLER

ANDREA MILLER is a choreographer, creative director, and founder of the internationally renowned multidisciplinary organization GALLIM. A Hispanic creator and collaborator for dance, film, fashion, and the visual arts, Miller is known for her exploration of the essential elements of human behavior and the alchemy of movement and performance. Miller is a Guggenheim, Sadler's Wells, New York City Center, and Princess Grace Fellow, and was featured in Forbes as an entrepreneur and leader in the dance world. She is the first choreographer to be named Artist in Residence at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, creating two large scale works for The Temple of Dendur and the fifth floor of The Met Breuer. Her visual art collaborations include a sound, sculpture, and performance installation for Lincoln Center processing the pandemic as well as collaboration with visual artist Antony Gormley at White Cube, Phyllida Barlow with ENB and works for The Glass House, Art Basel, Frieze Festival, Grace Farms, and Grand Central Station.
Miller’s dance works are presented by leading institutions and festivals around the world including Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, City Center, The Joyce, Jacob’s Pillow, BAM, Royal Albert Hall, Sadler's Wells, London Royal Opera House, Théâtre National de Chaillot, Teatre Grec of Barcelona, Theaterhaus Stuttgart, Canal Madrid, Teatro Nacional de Panamá, DanceHouse Vancouver, Spoleto Festival, and others.
Recent dance commissions include English National Ballet, New York City Ballet, Martha Graham Dance Company, Bern Ballet, TanzLuzern, Noord Nederland Dans, Pennsylvania Ballet, A.I.M by Kyle Abraham, Rambert2, NDT2, Ailey II, and The Juilliard School.
Film collaborations include celebrated directors Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, Xavier Dolan, Ezra Hurwitz, Bat-Sheva Guez, and long time collaborator Ben Stamper.
Her collaborations in fashion and brands include multiple collaborations with Hermès as well as VOGUE, Bergdorf and Goodman, SportsMax, KSwiss, Lacoste, Target, Calvin Klein, Crate & Barrel, SLS Hotels Miami and Las Vegas, and Beautiful Destinations. Miller serves on the board of Chelsea Factory and The Doris Humphrey Foundation.
Miller’s repertory, creative methodology and dance training have been taught through the GALLIM School of Movement as well as The Juilliard School, NYU, UC Kaufman, Harvard, Barnard, Marymount Manhattan, and others. She has been Adjunct Professor at Marymount Manhattan College and Barnard, and guest faculty at The Juilliard School, where she is an alumna.
SEAN HOWE
Sean Howe was raised in Toledo, Ohio, and graduated as Valedictorian from Toledo School for the Arts in 2013. That same year, he was named a Winner in Modern Dance by the National YoungArts Foundation and was later recognized as a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Sean earned his BFA in Dance from The Juilliard School in 2017, where he received both the Hector Zaraspe Prize for Choreography and the Juilliard Career Advancement Fellowship.
Following graduation, Sean joined GALLIM as a dancer and also performed with MADBOOTS Dance. In 2018, he joined Batsheva Dance Company in Tel Aviv, where he danced for eight years. In 2022, he became a certified Gaga teacher, leading workshops in Gaga and Batsheva repertoire internationally. He has also assisted in the restaging of works by Ohad Naharin, including ZŌ (2025) for Nederlands Dans Theater. In 2026, Sean returned to GALLIM to become rehearsal director and choreograph for the company.
As an emerging choreographer, Sean has created numerous stage works presented in Juilliard’s Choreographic Honors and annually through Batsheva’s Dancers Create program. In 2017 and 2018, he presented work at the WHITEWAVE DUMBO Dance Festival and the SoloDuo Dance Festival. One of his most recent works, Shiitake Highway 5D, premiered in New York in 2024 and has since been presented in Germany, Italy, South Korea, and Turkey at acclaimed international festivals, including the SoloCoreografico Festival, the ChangMu Arts International Festival, and the Ankara Contemporary Dance Festival.
Through choreography and performance, Sean seeks to create spaces where audiences can connect through shared humanity, nurture resilience, and cultivate hope for a brighter future.
