Photographing MOVEMENT: A Meditative Approach to Image-Making

Saturday, June 21st, 2025
11:00am-5:00PM
@ Chez Bushwick | 304 Boerum St #23, Brooklyn, NY 11206

Train your photographic eye, while building your self-sufficiency and autonomy as an independent, multi-faceted movement artist.

Led by acclaimed photographer Dan Chen, Photographing Movement: A Meditative Approach to Image Making will explore photography not just as a technical craft, but as a mindful, spiritual practice. We’ll discuss photographing movement with intention, curiosity, and openness, while also offering essential tools.

Together, we'll dive into what it means to see— to be present with your subject, to hold space with your camera, and to let go of the pressure to capture the “perfect shot.” You'll pick up creative techniques such as motion blur through slow shutter speeds, how different focal lengths can shift perception, and how to work with light, shadow, body angles, and composition— think of it all as a dance between physics and geometry.

Whether you're seeking new creative inspiration, want to better capture your own movement works, want to evolve your visual storytelling, or are curious about building a career that reflects your inner values, there will also be space for open Q&A and conversation around personal creative growth.

All levels welcome— bring your camera, your curiosity, and your creativity!
