SESSIONS

GALLIM Methods is a movement technique training which practices Andrea Miller’s movement philosophy and creative methodology through a guided conversation between the body's network of systems and the imagination. Through a combination of guided improvisation and focused exercises, the class brings nuanced attention to regions of the body, its availability for movement, range, coordination, texture, and creative expression in relationship to the rest of the body and its experience within space, time, music, and art.

GALLIM Repertory is known for Miller’s exploration of the essential elements of human behavior and the alchemy of movement, performance, and collaboration. In repertory sessions participants learn award winning repertory and are immersed in an intimate rehearsal environment, receiving coaching from senior GALLIM stagers to hone personal expression, and build dynamic movement range. Repertory class provides students a glimpse into company life and how GALLIM approaches rehearsing and staging repertory works.

Movement Invention is a method of creative exploration developed by Andrea Miller that builds new access to the body, movement vocabulary, and composition, in research concerning nuanced sensitivity, abandon, and virtuosity. Improvisational games and compositional tools are often derived directly from GALLIM's creative process.

Creative Process Lead by Mike Tyus & Luca Renzi
Creative Process with Tyus and Renzi focus on creating contemporary dance works through the perspective of Mike Tyus & Co. Participants will experience a deeper understanding of company repertory, creation and methods. Tyus and Renzi utilize improvisation, partnering, ballet technique, floor work and composition to challenge physical limitation and explore movement as design.
