SESSIONS

GALLIM METHODS  is a movement technique training which practices Andrea Miller’s movement philosophy and creative methodology through a guided conversation between the body's network of systems and the imagination. Through a combination of guided improvisation and focused exercises, the class brings nuanced attention to regions of the body, its availability for movement, range, coordination, texture, and creative expression in relationship to the rest of the body and its experience within space, time, music, and art.

GALLIM Repertory is known for Miller’s exploration of the essential elements of human behavior and the alchemy of movement, performance, and collaboration. In repertory sessions participants learn award winning repertory and are immersed in an intimate rehearsal environment, receiving coaching from senior GALLIM stagers to hone personal expression and build dynamic movement range. Repertory class provides students a glimpse into company life and how GALLIM approaches rehearsing and staging repertory works.

Movement Invention is a method of creative exploration developed by Andrea Miller that builds new access to the body, movement vocabulary, and composition, in research concerning nuanced sensitivity, abandon, and virtuosity. Improvisational games and compositional tools are often derived directly from GALLIM's creative process.

Testimonials from GALLIM School of Movement Students:

“Throughout this intensive I came to find just how valuable a safe creative space is. GALLIM did a phenomenal job of fostering an environment where people felt comfortable to explore and push the boundaries of what dance can be. Overall, this intensive was something I would feel lucky to do again at some point!” – Meredith Brown

“Taking class within this genre is such a fulfilling balance between freedom and structure. The faculty were educational and supportive, providing guidelines and inspirations. Morning class really enriched my artistic voice because I felt encouraged to challenge myself. Rep was also challenging yet structurally freeing, and I felt this artistically mature environment and community was productive for me towards creative development and feeling supported through challenges.”
